Farnham Town is delighted to announce that midfielder Mat Mackenzie has signed a new one-year contract extension with the Club running until May 2027.
In our first season at Step 3 level, Mat has been one of the Town’s key contributors on the field following his transfer from fellow Southern League Premier South side Hanwell Town for an undisclosed fee back in June.
Mat made an immediate impact in Claret & Blue, netting in our 3-3 draw at Gosport Borough before scoring what proved to be the winner in a 1-0 victory at Chertsey Town in the first week of the season, the first two of his seven goals for the Club in 45 appearances to date.
When fit, Mat has cemented himself as one of the first names on the team-sheet starting 33 of the 36 league games he has been available for, and we’re thrilled to confirm that he’s committed to the Club beyond this season.
“Mat made an immediate impact in our group from Day One,” manager Paul Johnson said.

“He is the midfield enforcer we needed at this level to complement the ball players around him. He sets the tempo in the middle and is often at the start of our attacks with his ball recoveries and turnovers.
“He’s been the first name on the team sheet for me all season and I am delighted to be working with him again next season.”
Chairman Harry Hugo adds: “Words don’t really do Mat justice when it comes to surmising the impact he’s had in such a short period of time with us. As the saying goes, actions speak louder than words and we couldn’t think of any greater action than to tie him down to a contract extension.
“We’ve been pretty outspoken about what we want to grow, build and achieve at Farnham Town, and we believe a player like Mat will contribute mightily to those efforts. As one of our biggest assets, it was important for us to lock down his future.”
We look forward to watching Mat continue to give his all for Farnham Town for the foreseeable future!
