Ryan Kinnane signs new two-year contract until May 2028

Farnham Town are delighted to announce that captain Ryan Kinnane has signed a new two-year contract with the Club, running through the end of the 2027/28 season.

The skipper has been a mainstay in the side over the past three years since his arrival from Berkhamsted in the summer of 2023, making 147 appearances during that time – the most of any player at the Club.

Ryan has led the side admirably over that time, and has anchored a defence that completed an unbeaten league campaign in 2023/24 as we romped to the Combined Counties Premier South title and then lost only twice in 42 league games as we amassed over 100 points again in our title-winning campaign in the Isthmian South Central in 2024/25.

A perpetual ironman in our side, Ryan has appeared in 51 of our 55 games across all competitions this season, again the most in the squad, helping push the side to secure a second-place finish in the 2025/26 Southern League Premier South, and was named Man of the Match in the Surrey Senior Cup Final earlier this week, which we won on penalties.

Named Paul Johnson’s Manager’s Player of the Season for 2024/25, we boast a 73% win rate when Ryan’s in the team over the past three seasons, and it’s hard to envisage the Club moving forward without him leading the team out every Saturday afternoon.

“I’m a very happy manager today to be able to confirm Ryan’s staying with us for the next two seasons,” manager Paul Johnson said.

“He’s been our rock at the back over the last three years. He’s not had it easy back there, we’ve always been chopping and changing who plays alongside him at the back, but he’s always been the constant and he’s always stood up to be counted.

“Ryan’s led this team to back-to-back promotions and now more silverware in the Surrey Senior Cup. He’s the leader of the group and I’m delighted he’s staying with us.”

Chairman Harry Hugo adds: “We’re beginning to run out of words to describe what Ryan brings to the Club, as a player and as a person.

“On the field, he is the prototypical captain – vocal, determined, leads by example, holds his team to account and puts it all on the line for his teammates and the fans. Off the field, he is an exemplar individual always brings a positive perspective, does all the right things to prepare for the next game, never gets too high, never gets too low, and inspires people to be the best they can be.

“Quite simply, we wouldn’t have had the success we’ve had over the past three years without Ryan, and he was the number one priority for us when Paul and his team began thinking about the squad build for next season.

“I’m delighted to be able to confirm Ryan as our captain for the next two seasons and I’m thankful that he continues to show commitment to the project here and believes in our journey and where we believe we can get to.”

Ryan joins Michael Eacott, Dan Bayliss, Jack Dean and Owen Dean in being under contract for the 2026/27 season, as Paul Johnson begins to map out his plans for next year and beyond.
