Darryl Sanders agrees terms to return in 2026/27

Farnham Town are delighted to announce that midfielder Darryl Sanders has agreed terms to extend his stay at the Club for the 2026/27 season.

In the three years that Darryl has been with the Club, he’s been one of the most instrumental attacking forces in the division every year as we’ve ascended through the tiers.

Darryl joined in the summer of 2023 and began our Combined Counties Premier South campaign in impeccable form, where he tallied 39 goal contributions in just 28 games, including 18 goals, before a knee injury in February ended his season prematurely.

The following season, again blighted by one or two knocks throughout, Darryl again was one of the most prominent creative and goalscoring threats in the side, with 24 goal contributions in just 30 appearances (18 starts), including 10 goals.

Back in the Southern League Premier South in 2025/26, the level in which he was at when he left Bracknell Town to join Farnham, Darryl enjoyed his best run of fitness with the Club, featuring in 48 of our 57 games across all competitions.

His 30 goal contributions split evenly between his 15 goals and 15 assists ranked joint-second in the team behind Bobby-Joe Taylor for most in a side that earned promotion to the National League South via the Play-Offs and won the Surrey Senior Cup.

When it mattered most, Darryl stepped up and delivered, scoring the winning goal in our 2-1 Play-Off Semi-Final victory over Berkhamsted before netting the opener in our 5-1 Play-Off Final win over Gloucester City five days later, both from the spot.

In the last three seasons, Darryl has amassed a staggering 93 goal contributions in just 109 games for the Club, second behind Owen Dean (100). He is the only player to hit double digits for both goals scored and assists in each of the last three seasons, and has a remarkable record of averaging 72 mins-per-goal contribution for the Town.

Manager Paul Johnson adds: “Big players deliver in big moments and Daz has done that for us time and time again since I first worked with him.

“From my first season here, I’ve always seen him as a huge asset to the squad because he can make things happen that most players simply can’t. Whether it’s a goal, an assist or a moment of quality out of nothing, he’s got that ability to change games.

“What people perhaps don’t always see is what a brilliant lad he is around the dressing room as well. He’s hugely respected by the group and he cares massively about the Club.

“Those two penalties in the Play-Offs under that amount of pressure just continue to cement his status as a Farnham Town legend in my eyes. To step up in those moments and deliver says everything about his character and quality.

“I’ve got no doubt Daz will continue to play a massive role for us as we move into the National League South.”

Chairman Harry Hugo adds: “I’m thrilled that Darryl will be coming with us into the National League South.

“His attacking output numbers are genuinely mind-boggling. I’m really pleased that he was able to get through this season relatively injury-free, and it paid dividends in terms of his contributions this season.

“The system we’ve played over the last few seasons has largely been built around Daz, and it’s been incredibly effective.

“Daz has so much talent and ability, I’m really looking forward to seeing him test himself at the highest level he’ll have ever played at.”
