Farnham Town are delighted to announce that midfielder Kai Tanner has agreed terms to extend his stay at the Club for the 2026/27 season.
After a scholarship term with Sutton United, Kai returned to Farnham Town at the start of the 2023/24 campaign and went on to make 40 appearances throughout the season, contributing 15 goal involvements in the process as we completed an Invincible league campaign, winning the Combined Counties Premier South title.
The following season, Kai was again a key contributor to the team, making 35 appearances across all competitions as we eclipsed 100 points for the second straight season and won the Isthmian South Central.

Kai’s 2025/26 campaign was disrupted right at the start where on his first appearance of the season in the Southern League Premier South, Kai suffered a significant foot injury at Gosport Borough in August that would keep him out of action until February where he made his return in the Surrey Senior Cup win against Kingstonian.
From there, Kai joined Ascot United on a dual-registration basis to get back to full fitness before making a further 10 appearances for the Town in the run-in, including starting the Surrey Senior Cup final victory against Merstham.
Manager Paul Johnson adds: “Kai massively impressed me this season, particularly when we used him at full-back. I think we may have found the position where he can really add something to the team consistently at this level.
“What you always get with Kai is absolutely everything. He loves the Club, he understands what it means to represent Farnham Town and he’s the type of lad every manager wants around the dressing room. He’s a real fan favourite and hugely popular within the squad as well.
“I think local lads are absolutely critical to building a successful football club because they understand the connection between the team and the supporters, and Kai embodies that.
“I’m also really pleased that he’s now earned his first Farnham Town contract. He fully deserves it for the work he’s put in and the attitude he shows every single day.”
Chairman Harry Hugo adds: “I just love Kai Tanner. I love having him around the Club. He’s part of the furniture here having come through the youth setup, leaving and then coming back to support our ascent up the leagues.

“He’s not been a regular starter in this run with us, but he’s been an essential squad player whose versatility is a big asset for us. He’s always willing to do whatever job Johno needs him to do each week, and that attitude must be admired.
“With bigger matchday squads next season in the National League South, players who can fill in multiple roles for us are going to be so valuable, and Kai is that. I look forward to seeing him test himself at that level.”
