Tom Leggett agrees terms to return in 2026/27

Farnham Town are delighted to announce that midfielder Tom Leggett has agreed terms to extend his stay at the Club for the 2026/27 season.

Tom joined the Club this time last year after leaving National League South side Salisbury where he was a regular fixture in the side to come and support our promotion push from the Southern League Premier South.

Much like he did with Salisbury in 2023/24, Tom was a big part of the side that would earn promotion into Step 2 via the Play-Offs, making 48 appearances throughout the season across both midfield and defence.

It was in the run-in where Tom’s value was truly realised as he started each of the final 12 games across all competitions, first in midfield before dropping into defence to replace the injured Dan Bayliss, helping the Town to a historic promotion and cup double.

Now back in the National League South, Tom’s experience of the level as well as his versatility to help the team in a number of roles, will prove invaluable as we ply our trade at the highest level Farnham Town has ever played at.

Manager Paul Johnson adds: “I can completely understand why Tom would’ve been frustrated at times during the middle part of the season because he wasn’t playing as regularly as he would’ve wanted, but what impressed me most was how he handled it.

“He never let it affect his attitude or his focus. He kept working hard, stayed ready and when we needed him, he stepped in and delivered exactly what the team required. To start each of our final 12 games of the season tells you everything about the trust we had in him by the end of the campaign.

“Some of his performances during the Play-Offs, particularly playing at centre-half, were heroic. He adapted brilliantly, gave us real composure and experience, and played a huge role in helping us get over the line.

“Tom’s versatility, mentality and understanding of the National League South will be massive for us again next season.”

Chairman Harry Hugo adds: “Tom’s been a great addition to the dressing room, he’s a perfect character fit for our group.

“He’s of an age where he provides some leadership on the pitch, and also offers great experience at National League South level in a year where we are really going to need it.

“Tom found himself battling for a starting position in the middle of the season, but down the stretch he was immense for us in midfield and in defence when called upon, he really showed his quality in those final few months.

“I’m a big believer of continuity and we want to keep the core of this group together as we tackle Step 2, and I’m pleased that Tom will be back with us next season.”
