Farnham Town are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Jack Spong from last season’s National League South champions Worthing, signing a one-year contract subject to FA and National League approval.
The 24-year-old midfielder came through the academy set up at Brighton, making his professional debut for the Seagulls in an EFL Cup tie against Aston Villa in September 2019.
In January 2023, Jack joined League Two side Crawley Town on loan for the remainder of the season – playing alongside fellow Farnham Town favourite Brandon Mason, making five appearances in total before moving north of the border in the summer, completing a free transfer move to Queen’s Park in the Scottish Championship for the 2023/24 season, assisting five times in 28 games before leaving the club in January 2024.
Jack returned to the south of England signing for Worthing in the National League South in March of that season, appearing in 10 of their final 11 league fixtures that season, providing seven goal contributions in eight starts, including three goals, helping the Rebels clinch a third-placed finish in the table. Worthing would go on to reach the play-off final where Jack would find the net but ultimately be on the losing side, suffering a narrow 4-3 defeat to Braintree Town after extra-time.
The 2024/25 campaign, Jack established himself as one of Worthing’s key players, appearing in all 46 National League South fixtures, including 45 starts, and playing over 91% of the minutes in the league, providing 17 goal contributions along the way including eight goals. Worthing would miss out on the league title on the final day of the season and again endured play-off heartache, losing to Maidstone United in the semi-final.
Last season, Jack again was one of Worthing’s most influential players, scoring eight times in 40 appearances as they finally got over the hump and won the National League South, earning promotion to the National League. In total, Jack made 100 appearances for Worthing, scoring 20 goals and providing a further 17 assists.
Jack would leave Worthing in the summer and now joins Paul Johnson’s side at The Memorial Ground for the upcoming season after impressing in our recent 1-0 friendly win over Eastleigh last week.

“Over the last two seasons especially, Jack established himself as one of the key contributors in an excellent Worthing side that finally earned their place in the National League – and deservedly so.
“He has excellent pedigree, and at 24, he’s got a lot more to give. As a player that’s been there and done it at this level over a number of years, he’s going to be a huge asset to our dressing room.”

“Jack was someone we were monitoring for a while but I think I speak for a lot of people who know this level and Non League locally that when it was announced Jack was moving on from Worthing this summer, we expected him to go higher.
