Quinn Schutter
Left-back, 18
Loan Club: Ascot United
Having impressed in his first two appearances for Ascot United, Quinn was made unavailable for selection for their Emirates FA Cup Preliminary Round tie with Penn & Tylers Green last Saturday following an agreement between clubs to ensure Quinn isn’t cup-tied and therefore unavailable for selection by Farnham Town when we enter the competition in September.
Quinn was reinstated in the side on Tuesday night as the Yellas returned to Isthmian South Central action as Binfield visited the Racecourse Ground.
Ascot continued their uptick in form in recent times and secured their first league win of the season with an emphatic 4-0 victory as Quinn played the full 90 minutes helping the team to keeping their first clean sheet of the campaign.
Another quick turnaround awaits for Ascot as they get their FA Trophy campaign underway with Margate making the trip in the First Qualifying Round.
Harley Platel
Winger, 18
Loan Club: Ascot United
Unlike his fellow loanee, Harley is free to feature in the Emirates FA Cup for Ascot with his goal in the Extra Preliminary Round helping fire the Yellas into last weekend’s clash with Penn & Tylers Green.
Harley was named in the starting line-up, helping the team engineer a two-goal lead at the break before being substituted at half time. Ascot would go on to win the tie 2-1 and earn a First Qualifying Round meeting with Pagham next weekend.
Unfortunately, it was reported that Harley had a small injury coming out of that game which ruled him out for Tuesday nights win over Binfield, but there is hope that he will be available this weekend for the FA Trophy clash with Margate.
James Shaw
Goalkeeper, 34
Dual-registered Club: Cobham
A new addition to Loan Watch this week, backup goalkeeper James Shaw signed on as a dual-registration player with Cobham after their No.1 – and one-time Farnham Town emergency goalkeeper – Rourke Pickford was sent off in the latter stages of their 1-0 defeat to Windsor & Eton in the Isthmian South Central last Tuesday.
James capably stepped in between the sticks for the Hammers last night as they travelled to Ashford Town (Middlesex), helping them secure an impressive 3-2 victory on the road with the winning goal scored by former Farnham Town favourite, Dean Rule.
Business as usual for James this weekend as he’s expected to be in the squad for our trip to Horsham in the National League South on Saturday.
Kai Tanner
Left-back, 22
Loan Club: Bracknell Town
Despite an impressive debut, Kai has been sidelined over the last couple of weeks after suffering a foot injury in the 3-2 win against Gloucester City back on August 11th, meaning he has missed the 0-0 draw at home to Malvern Town and the 2-1 defeat at Yate Town in the Southern League Premier South.
The injury is not considered serious and Kai is in contention to make his return to the side this weekend as the Robins welcome Sholing to the SB Stadium, who sit just two places above them courtesy of a better goal difference.
Miles Obodo
Striker, 19
Loan Club: Basingstoke Town
Miles opened his account for the season in style in our last update, bagging a brace on the road as the ‘Stoke secured an impressive 2-0 victory at Poole Town, but faced an equally tricky test last weekend with the visit of league favourites Bath City to the Winklebury.
Bath took the lead after 24 minutes with a goal from Harry Parsons, but Basingstoke fought back well, leveling just four minutes later through Thomas Blake.
Miles’ energy and enthusiasm leading the line would be a recurring theme throughout the game, with his hold-up play and close control highlighted as particular strengths, both things that came to light late in the game helping launch a counter-attack that Miles almost completed himself, firing wide with moments to go in a move that would’ve secured all three points. It would end 1-1 but Basingstoke impressed with their display.
It’s a trip down west next for Basingstoke on Saturday as they travel to Taunton Town in league action.
