Loan Watch | Emirates FA Cup exits for Platel and Obodo

Following the progress of Farnham Town players continuing their development out on loan to start the 2026/27 season…

Quinn Schutter
Left-back, 18
Loan Club: Ascot United

Quinn was scheduled to make his fifth and final appearance for Ascot United yesterday evening in the First Round of the Velocity Cup against South Park (Reigate) but that fixture was postponed after the Yellas were tasked with traveling to Pagham for their Emirates FA Cup First Qualifying Round Replay.

The postponement, coupled with the agreement that Quinn would not feature in either the Emirates FA Cup and FA Trophy fixtures to avoid being cup-tied when Farnham Town enter those competitions, meant that Quinn had already played his final game for Ascot United and has now returned to the Town following the completion of his 28-day loan spell.

We’d like to thank everyone at Ascot United for their support of Quinn during his brief time there, and the left-back now immediately returns to the first team squad with Farnham Town and is in contention to feature in our National League South fixture at Folkestone Invicta this weekend.

Harley Platel
Winger, 18
Loan Club: Ascot United

Harley’s fine form for the Yellas has been almost exclusively reserved for cup competitions this season. Having netted in their Emirates FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round victory against Clevedon Town, he followed that up with a brace in their FA Trophy First Qualifying Round victory against Margate before netting his first league goal of the campaign against Windsor & Eton over the course of the August Bank Holiday Weekend.

It was a return to Emirates FA Cup action this past weekend for the Yellas as they welcomed Pagham to the Racecourse Ground. After an uneventful first half, the game burst into life when Harley collected the ball on the left channel roughly 30 yards from goal.

He illustrated terrific close control and through his guile and creativity, weaved his way beyond several challengers, drove into the box and fired a left-footed strike into the roof of the net to hand Ascot the lead with just 18 minutes to go.

Unfortunately, Pagham grabbed an equaliser deep into stoppage time to level the game and take the tie to a replay on Tuesday evening which they took control of in the second minute by taking the lead and never looking back, completing a 2-0 victory and booking their place in the Second Qualifying Round.

Ascot United return to FA Trophy action this weekend as they welcome Ashford United in the Second Qualifying Round.

Miles Obodo
Striker, 19
Loan Club: Basingstoke Town

With three goals in his last five appearances for Basingstoke, Miles was clearly enjoying his time with Basingstoke which made it a simple decision for the Club last week to extend his loan spell for a further 28 days as well as making him available to play in the Emirates FA Cup.

That would allow Miles to feature for the ‘Stoke as they welcomed last season’s FA Vase winners AFC Stoneham in the First Qualifying Round of the Emirates FA Cup, but the teams would play out a 0-0 draw at the Winklebury, meaning the tie would go to a replay on Tuesday night.

Traveling down the M3 last night with a trip to play Torquay United on the table for the winners, it was again a very nervy affair between the two sides, but it was the Step 4 side who scored the decisive goal in the first half that would book their place in the next round.

Basingstoke travel West on Saturday to take on last season’s beaten Southern League Premier South Play-Off finalists, Gloucester City.
